Another in this little series of still lifes. Sometimes one painting will push you to explore an idea further, here the copper pot paintings got me using venetian red. I also wanted to stay in the same mind set for a few more paintings before painting outdoors or portraits etc. I came across this little brass horse incense burner and it really caught my eye. The painting developed as I went along and the horse became surrounded by spring summer and fall. The lilac buds ready to open from my yard, beech leaves from springwater.
