New Painting

This new painting of Susan is 14 x 7 inches.  I am doing a series of portraits and find that I am adding figures to my landscapes as well.

New Oil Painting" Morning Circle" 9 x 24 inches Original

Another in this group of paintings from Glen Colin Line near my home. I loved this peaceful barnyard, it is a joy to paint these subjects. I did not arrange the sheep they had themselves in this circle greeting the morning and I particularly enjoyed painting the chickens in the background. I am looking forward to finding more chickens to paint and I hope to be in barnyards this spring in search of great subjects. SOLD

Painting Plein Air from the kayak

This is my setup for painting on the water at Springwater . The 8x 10 in. red maple study became the reference for the 18x 24 red maple painting and in that same spirit I am painting small 8x 10 in. plein air paintings of a great oak tree at the back end of the pond to try and paint a larger version in the studio but not until this beautiful weather stops. Available.

New still life series by Paul Brunelle

I love the impressionists and when they were developing their revolutionary approach to painting new colour theory was also being discovered and complimentary colours ,opposites on the colour wheel was one of these discoveries. Painting colour into the shadows was another as well as broad expressive brush work that let the viewer see the obvious pieces of paint rather than blending them out as was done previously. I tried to be aware of all of these as I worked on this series.
Since I am not good at all at naming my paintings I will call them, Blue and Orange, Red and Green and purple and yellow. ORANGE AND BLUE SOLD.
